One day, Jun told me about a short piece done by Inoue Takehiko Sensei called 'Pierced Earring' / 'Piercing'. It is a story about Ryota and Ayako. However, it is NOT certain if it is about the same Ryota and Ayako. I don't know whether it is related to SlamDunk. The story is about a boy name Ryota who went to the beach. He met a girl name Ayako at a cove on the beach. Ayako was upset about her mother. She thought that the gift her mother gave her was a gift from her future stepfather to her mother. She threw a pair of earrings into the sea. Ryota noticed the scene so he dived into the sea to recover the earrings. He noticed that Ayako was crying. She was in a place where Ryota had once waited for his brother's return from the sea. His brother died at the sea. But Ryota kept on waiting for his brother a long time ago. 7 years.

Ryota and Ayako became friends. Ryota pierced his ear with a brooch from his nanny and puts on the earring. At the end, Ryota was reading a letter from Ayako. He explains (to the letter..) that the earrings was in fact a gift for her from him.

Aaahh !! Is it correct ?!!
I would love to think this as how Ryota and Ayako met and how Ryota pierced his ears. But I had always thought that Ryotafirst saw Ayako in school. OR maybe they did meet at the sea, and later Ryota saw Ayako again and fell in love. (?)Piercing's Ryota does have some facial similarities to SlamDunk's Ryota. Those heavy lid eyes and the sour(?)/ cool look.And both Ayako have the big eyes.

Then again, both Ryota do not have the same eyebrows. One is straight haired, the other is curly.(This also applies for both Ayako)(But they could have gone to the salon together to have their hair permed)(What am I saying ?!) ^_^

Draw your own conclusion. As for me, I'm leaning a little towards the No side.
